Getting it built

You start from whatever you already have, answer a few short questions about how it should look, and watch the pages fill in. Nothing here asks you to know a design word.

• Four ways to start

  Describe your business in two sentences, paste your LinkedIn profile or company page, hand over the address of the site you already have, or answer nothing at all and let Spanli choose for you.

• Say it. Watch your website do it.

  The chat is the tool. Describe the site you want, then ask for every change after that in the same conversation, in the words you would use with a person.

• Change the look, see it change

  Pick a look, then turn one dial at a time: colours, fonts, corners, spacing, how the menu sits. Every choice shows immediately in the live preview beside you.

• Checked before it is called done

  Every build is looked at on a laptop screen and at the width of an ordinary phone, and checked against accessibility rules. Serious problems on your home page have to be fixed before the build can finish.

Keeping it current

The things that change most often do not need a conversation at all, and nothing you try is permanent.

• Point at it. Say what to change.

  Click the part you want changed in the live preview and type the change in plain words. Spanli sees exactly what you saw, down to the screen size you were looking at.

• Your content, as simple forms

  Dishes, services, projects, articles: the things that repeat live as a list you open and edit. Save a draft while you are still deciding, publish when it is ready.

• Every version kept

  Every round of changes leaves a saved version behind. Ask for the old one back, pick it from a short list, and your site is restored. Nothing you experiment with reaches your visitors until you publish.

• Your photos, or ones you can borrow

  Upload your own pictures, or search a library of free photography without leaving the page. You can also send photos straight into the chat with a note about where they belong.

• Photos, polished for you

  On paid plans, Spanli edits your photos as it builds: fixes the light, tidies a cluttered background, crops each picture for the spot it fills. And when you have no photo to hand, it creates matching artwork in your site's own colors.

Putting it in front of people

Hosting, your own name, the enquiries that come in and the people who help you look after it. All of it is here, and none of it is a separate setup evening.

  Your site is built, kept and served in the same place you made it. Your own Spanli web address is reserved when the project is created and starts answering the first time you publish, so you never have to buy a domain to be online.

• Buy your name where you build your site

  Search for a domain, see what is free and what it costs, and buy it without leaving your project. It is registered in your name, and the connecting up is ours to do. Already own one? Point it here and keep it where it is.

• Enquiries land somewhere. Every time.

  Your site comes with the form it needs, and everything sent through it is collected the moment it is sent. Spanli emails you when messages arrive, marks the unread ones in your dashboard, and you can download the lot as a spreadsheet.

• Bring in the people who help

  Invite someone by email and choose what they can do: change the site, look after the money, or own the whole thing. Roles are changed or removed whenever you like, and nobody shares a password.

What it costs

Every new site starts with 80 free credits of AI building - enough to create it, change it, and look at the result, with no card. Publishing it, and pointing your own domain at it, is what a plan is for. Buying a domain is open on every plan, because the name is yours either way.
