The form on your site

Your site comes with the form it needs — contact, quote request, booking enquiry or RSVP — and you can change what it asks.

Every Spanli site has a way for people to get in touch, and it is set up when the site is built. You do not add it, wire it up or test it.

What form you get

It depends on what your site is. A salon gets a booking enquiry. A builder gets a quote request. A wedding gets an RSVP. A consultant gets "can we talk?".

The point is that it asks for what your kind of business actually needs to know, rather than the same three boxes for everyone.

Changing what it asks

Say so in chat, in ordinary words:

  • "Also ask which service they want."
  • "Add a box for how many people."
  • "Drop the company field, most of them are individuals."
  • "Make the phone number optional."

The form changes and keeps working. Nothing you have already received is affected.

What happens when someone sends it

The message is captured the moment they press send, and it waits for you in your project. It does not depend on your site being finished, or on you being logged in, or on anything of ours being awake. Rebuild the whole site this afternoon; the enquiries that arrive during it are still there afterwards.

See Where the replies arrive for how to read them.

Checking that it works

Fill it in yourself, from your own phone, exactly as a customer would. Then open your project and look for it in the list. It should be there within a minute or so.

Doing this once, after you publish, is worth the two minutes — not because it is likely to be broken, but because knowing it works is what stops you putting your phone number in the header out of nervousness.

Spanli does not email you when a reply comes in. Today it is a list you check, so make checking it a habit. This is the honest limit people are most likely to be caught out by, which is why it is said in three different places in this help centre.
