I've run out of credits

What happens when the balance reaches nothing, what is still safe, and the three ways to carry on.

Credits pay for the AI's work. When they run out, Spanli stops taking new requests for changes rather than doing work it cannot charge for.

It is a pause, not a loss. Nothing about your site is at risk.

What still works

Everything except asking for new changes:

  • Your live site stays up. Visitors see no difference.
  • Enquiries keep arriving and waiting for you.
  • Your lists still work — you can add a dish, change a price, publish it. Editing through forms costs nothing.
  • Publishing still works.
  • Nothing is deleted, and your site's history is untouched.

Three ways to carry on

  1. Buy credits. The fastest route — a one-off purchase, no change to your plan.
  2. Move to a paid plan. Pro includes 200 credits a month, Business 1,000, and they add to whatever you already have rather than replacing it.
  3. Wait for your monthly credits, if you are already on a paid plan. They arrive with each billing month.

See Plans and credits.

Stopping it happening again

Save a card and set an automatic top-up: when your balance drops below a level you pick, Spanli buys you more. You set a monthly limit so it can never run away with itself, and it turns itself off if a payment is declined.

Worth doing if you build in long sessions — running out half way through a big change is the annoying way to meet this page.

If a change stopped part way

A change that ran out of credits mid-way does not leave your site broken. What was already done is kept, the rest is not, and the chat tells you where it stopped.

Top up, then say "carry on" — or just ask for the thing again.

Watching the balance

Your remaining credits are shown in your project, and the number warns you before it reaches nothing. If you are about to do something big — a whole new page, a full rebuild — glance at it first.
