Editing something in a list
Opening an item, changing its fields, saving it as a draft, publishing it, and deleting one — step by step.
This is the most ordinary job on your whole site: a price changed, a dish came off, you finished a project worth showing. It takes about a minute and it never involves the chat.
Changing something that is already there
- Open your project and find the list down the side — Menu, Services, Projects, whatever yours are called.
- You get a table of everything in it. Find the one you want. If the list is long there is a search box, and you can show All, Published or Draft only.
- Click it. You get a form: labelled boxes with what is currently there.
- Change what needs changing.
- Press Save.
That is it. Nothing to drag, and nothing you can knock out of alignment — the page keeps its layout whatever you type.
If the item is already published, the change is ready to go out the next time you publish the site.
Adding a new one
Same list, and there is a button to add one. Fill in the form and save.
A new item starts as a draft, which means it is not on the live site yet. When it is ready, press Publish on it.
Saving something half-finished
Perfectly normal. Fill in what you know, save it, leave it as a draft and come back. Nobody outside your project sees a draft.
When you are ready, open it and press Publish. If you want to pull something back out of view, open it and press Move to draft.
See Drafts and published.
Photos on an item
A photo is one of the fields. Set it on the item, the same as the name or the price, and it appears wherever that item is shown on the site.
Deleting one
Open it and press Delete. You will be asked to confirm, because this one really is permanent — a deleted item is not covered by your site's history, which restores the site rather than your content.
If you are not sure, Move to draft instead. It disappears from the live site and you keep it.
What this does not change
The form changes what the item says. It does not change how the list is shown. "Put the menu in two columns", "show the photo above the name", "sort these newest first" are all changes to the page — ask for those in chat. See Pages and sections.
