Finding your way around
A short tour of your project — the chat, the preview beside it, the lists down the side, and where everything else is kept.
Your project is one screen, and almost everything happens on it. This page is the map, so you know what you are looking at.
The chat and the preview
The main screen is split: a conversation on one side, your actual site on the other.
- The chat is where you ask for changes. It is the same conversation from the first day, so scrolling back shows everything you have ever asked for.
- The preview is your real site — the live thing, not a picture of it. It updates as changes land. You can switch it between phone, tablet and laptop shapes, and you can point at any part of it to ask for that exact thing to change. See Watching it work.
Down the side
The sidebar lists the parts of your project that are not the chat:
- Chat — back to the main screen.
- Content — one entry for each list your site keeps: Menu, Services, Projects, whatever yours are. See The lists you keep.
- Forms — one entry for each form on your site, holding the messages people have sent you. See Where the replies arrive.
These fill in as your site is built, so a brand-new project may show nothing here for a minute or two.
Above the site
Along the top of your project you will find:
- Publish, with a word beside it saying where you stand — Live, Unpublished changes, Not published. See Drafts and published.
- Versions, the list of states you can put your site back to. See Putting things back.
On a phone the two hide behind a small pill showing that same word: tap it and you get both.
Your remaining credits sit at the top of the sidebar, just under your project's name, with a plus beside them for buying more. See Plans and credits.
Settings
Beside your project's name there is a settings gear with three tabs:

| Billing | Your plan, your card, your credits and your receipts |
Editors do not see Billing at all. See Inviting someone to help.
Your account
Separate from any one site: your display name and your password. See Your account.
More than one site
If you have several, the switcher at the top of the sidebar moves between them, and Spanli remembers which one you were last in and takes you back there.
Note that a free account gets one free site. A second site needs a paid plan of its own — plans are per site, not per account.
Light and dark
There is a light and a dark version of the whole thing, and a toggle to switch. It follows your device's setting until you choose for yourself.
